Remembering Peace
For Rachel, Elyse, & Lena

I saw a bird
that rode the wind.
So natural was its flight.
With so little effort this bird
rode the wind,
that I remembered peace again.

I saw a child play,
becoming upset so easily.
It only took a minute and
this child was happy
and began to play again.
It was then I understood peace again.

I saw the sky,
full of beautiful clouds
The sky turned dark;
a great storm came,
thunder, lightning, wind.
Then I saw the most amazing thing,
a rainbow stretching over the world.
It was then I had peace again,
great peace in my heart.
